Jamey’s Weekly Web: Baby Names

If you don’t already know, WE ARE HAVING A BOY!!!!!! I am thinking we should name him James Lothar Strong Power Seman. But as it turns out I don’t think Strong and Power are commonly used names. So I set out to find the best the web had to offer in terms of baby naming sites. My favorite two are as follows:

NameBerry (I especially liked the section called “Video Game Names for Boys”)

Baby Center Baby Names Section (The whole site is awesome not just the name part.)

Pregnancy Nutrition

I’m not expert an nutrition, but one of my favorite food bloggers (www.KathEats.com), who also happens to be pregnant and has started a second blog about pregnancy (www.babyKERF.com), recently wrote a fantastic post about food and nutrition during pregnancy. As a Registered Dietitian, she offers great, well-researched information. I often use her tips to build our grocery list, and many of these foods have become staples for us. Some of my regular pregnancy “super” foods have been raisins, yogurt, cottage cheese, low-fat cheese, soy milk, whole grain cereal, protein bars, eggs, nuts, beans, and more.

Important nutritional categories to consider when you’re pregnant (and all the time!) are iron, protein, calcium, prenatal vitamins, and also foods to avoid or reduce.

Laughter is the Best Medicine

When pregnancy gets you down, here are a few laughs to make you feel better that my co-worker sent me today:

Q & A for Pregnant Women

Q : I’m two months pregnant now. When will my baby move?
A: With any luck, right after he finishes college.

Q: My wife is five months pregnant and so moody that sometimes she’s borderline irrational.
A: So what’s your question?

Q: My childbirth instructor says it’s not pain I’ll feel during labor, but pressure. Is she right?
A: Yes, in the same way that a tornado might be called an air current.?

Q: When is the best time to get an epidural?
A: Right after you find out you’re pregnant.

Q: Is there any reason I have to be in the delivery room while my wife is in labor?
A: Not unless the word “alimony” means anything to you.

Q: Is there anything I should avoid while recovering from childbirth?
A: Yes, pregnancy.

Q: Do I have to have a baby shower?
A: Not if you change the baby’s diaper very quickly.

Q: Our baby was born last week. When will my wife begin to feel and act normal again?
A: When the kids are in college.

Jamey’s Weekly Web: Baby Edition

I love to research things on the web. I find that most any topic has numerous sites dedicated to the information. The trick is to weed out the good ones. So for your convenience I have found two of the more complete websites about babies! Seeing as how Carrie and I have recently found ourselves in a crash course about babies, I have been frequenting these two sites more and more recently.

THE BUMP

BABY CENTER

I’ve found Baby Center to have more intellectual knowledge about pregnancy and the early years of a child’s life. While The Bump is dedicated to sharing the experience and the fun of having a baby. But it does include pertinent info as well. Both are really interesting whether you are pregnant or not!!!
